Premio Penagos de Dibujo

Carlos Cruz-Diez has been awarded the 2012 Premio Penagos de Dibujo that is annually given by the Fundación Mapfre in Spain.

This prize, worth 30,000 euros, is given to recompense the career of a living artist and was awarded by a jury composed of Alberto Manzano Martos, president of the "Fundación de la sociedad de seguros Mapfre", the vice president Pablo Jiménez Burillo, General Director of the "Instituto de Cultura de la Fundación", as well as top professionals in the world of art: Francisco Calvo Serraller, professor of art history and art critic; Eugenio Carmona, professor of art history; Juan Fernández-Layos, member of the "Consejo Asesor del Instituto de Cultura de la Fundación"; artist Julián Grau Santos; gallerist Leandro Navarro; art history professors Estrella de Diego and María Dolores Jiménez Blanco.

Among the last artists who have won this prize, we can find David Hockney (2008), Antonio López (2009), Paula Rego (2010) and Miquel Barceló (2011).
